This is session 5 of my tablet practice. I was given a relatively random subject topic by Andrew (Thanks Andrew~!)
continuing wacom practice
Here is another wacom sketch. It's getting easier. I worry that I'm over thinking it at times. There are still a lot of little tricks to learn but it's a huge change from working with a mouse. I've been working these images in a freeware software named Gimp. If anyone knows another please let me know!
New sketchboard
For Christmas, I was gifted a very nice Wacom. Which needless to say I'm excited about it. Over the past few days I've been making an attempt to learn a bit more about how to use it.The picture above was my first drawing done for this blog wholly with the Wacom. I've used the GIMP program before but with a mouse and usually post pen and paper drawing and some scanning.
Disney is not a subject I prefer. In fact, Disney is one of my least favorite cartoon/illustrative companies but they are big and recognized and have plenty to pull from. That in mind, here is my quick sketch version of Aladdin. I wimped out and avoided the hands or any serious dynamic pose...but I'm very open to feedback on how better use the tools or on concepts.

Into oil
Working on a very simple oil study. It's not a medium I'm well versed in but I figured it's worth trying.

Nutcracker
I've settled on an image for my Christmas postcard. I'll try to correct some of the poor perspective rendering around the legs and fix the shoulder/arm length on him but all in all a good start. The theme is the nutcracker. The goal will to make it very soft and wintery.
